| WHEN
HIRING A MASSAGE THERAPIST, WHAT SHOULD I ASK? 1. Are they state licensed? 2. Where did they go to school? 3. How long have they practiced? |
| PLAYING
BY THE RULES: Some therapists who are unqualified will try and produce a "smoke screen" by using such terms as "certified" or other clever initials after their name. Don't be fooled. In New York state, any massage therapist who works without a license is working ILLEGALLY. |
| To see if your massage therapist is New York State Licensed, go to The New York State Department of Education |
| YOUR
FIRST SESSIONWhat to Expect: When you arrive at the agreed time (not early), I will have you fill out a brief form detailing your medical background and other pertinent information. We will look over what you have written to make sure that the massage is appropriate to your condition (only rarely is massage contra indicated). I will then leave the room, giving you time to undress, use the restroom and get onto the massage table. |
| WHAT
DO I WEAR? As a massage therapist, I prefer that you fully undress as elastic undergarments are difficult to work around. You will be fully covered by a body size towel 100% of the time. However, I am happy to work with your comfort level. |
| DO
I USE OIL? I use a water based lotion that is hypoallergenic and non-staining. |
| HOW
SHOULD I PREPARE FOR THE SESSION? 1. You should be reasonably clean, recently bathed. 2. Allow at least 90 minutes for any food to digest before the session. 3. Limit the intake of caffeineyou may have to urinate frequently. 4. Do not use body lotions or creams, as it can interfere with the glide of the massage lotion. 5. If you've just had a haircut, please shower before your session. |
| HOW
LONG IS THE MASSAGE? The massage is 90 minutes. You generally want to allow 2 hours from the time you arrive to the time you leave. |
